Government must increase the refugee intake and introduce a special humanitarian visa for displaced Syrians fleeing Islamic State
The number of Syrian refugees Australia accepts in the coming weeks must be in addition to the existing humanitarian visa allocation says National President of the Migration Institute of Australia Angela Chan FMIA.
“Australia must take its place on the world stage and accept a reasonable number of Syrian refugees and not just provide lip service. This is an emergency situation which should compel the Australian government to accept an increased intake of refugees in addition to the existing refugee visa allocation of 13,750,” said Ms Chan.
